The Round Top Antique Show features a broad range of vendors who set up along Highway 237 in Fayette County
Twice a year, Round Top is a booming destination for travelers near and far. Highway 237 is transformed into a bumper-to-bumper freeway filled with shoppers ready to explore the fields. The Round Top Antique Show has grown in popularity over the years, attracting even A-list celebrities. Miranda Lambert, Bradley Cooper and Gwen Stefani have all been spotted browsing the tents in the last few years.
If this is your first time to the Round Top Antique Show, here are a few helpful tips from our local experts (read: Agents!) for a successful trip:
Dress Ready to Walk
Highway 237 (the main road through the shopping) is a two-lane highway. It tends to get pretty backed-up so walking is the best mode of transportation.
We all know how much fun it can be to dress-up for the show…and you should totally do that! But be sure to prioritize functionality just as much as fashion. Comfortable shoes that will carry you through the day are a MUST. You will be walking through areas that are hay meadows and cow pastures 90% of the year, so plan accordingly!
Cash is King
While a majority of the vendors will accept credit cards, the congestion, traffic, and large influx of people in the area can wreak havoc on the cell phone signal and internet. When you find that perfect item you’ve been searching all day for, you don’t want to have issues paying with a credit card. Plan ahead and bring shopping cash! It will make your purchases simpler…and may help you with bargaining power.
And if you get in a pinch, there are certainly a few ATM’s available for your use!
Hydrate
Once you hit the Round Top antique show, the wine and spirits are flowing! This is great news for many guests, and the perfect treat for a fun day shopping…but don’t forget about water! This is Texas after all, and while the northern states may have colored leaves and cooler temps right now, the sunshine still beats down in October around these parts.
It can get HOT and water may not always be available where you are. Take the liberty of packing a few bottles (and maybe a few snacks) to tie you over so you don’t have to stop shopping to go find some refreshments.
Enjoy all the extras
One of the biggest perks of the show has to be the endless supply of live music and delicious eats. Several local establishments feature local artists throughout the show and provide live music each night.
Along with the permanent restaurants in Round Top and the surrounding areas, tons of great pop-up eateries are set up amongst the Vendors. It’s a great opportunity to try new things and let’s face it…food makes EVERYTHING better!
It Doesn’t Stop at Round Top
Although Round Top and Warrenton seem to get the most publicity out of the show, there are several other smaller communities that take part in the show! Burton, Carmine and the charming town of Fayetteville also have great set-ups with fun finds!
Highway 290, FM 1457 and FM 954 will all lead you to more finds. Take the liberty of checking out these quaint shopping spots while you are in the area.
Exploring the Round Top Antique Show
The famous Round Top Antique Show has grown to so much more than just antiques! You never know what or who you will find while shopping, and it’s always guaranteed to be an enjoyable experience. Gather up your friends and make plans to come visit Round Top during the show. We know you will love it!
