CHRISTMAS IN ROUND TOP
The first weekend in December is such a magical time in Round Top! The shops are decorated, the trees on the square are lit up, and you can just FEEL the Christmas joy in the air. The piece de resistance- the Round Top Christmas Parade – is an unforgettable way to ring in Christmas in Round Top.
From viewing beautifully-decorated homes to enjoying hot cocoa and delicious homemade treats, this is certainly a weekend in Round Top you don’t want to miss!
Christmas Tour of Homes
The Round Top Area Historical Society will host a Christmas Tour of Homes on Saturday, December 4 beginning at 11:00. You’ll be able to view five beautiful homes in the area, all while enjoying hors d’oeuvres and refreshments along the way.
Four homes and two newly-opened businesses built in period structures are included on the tour…all magically decorated to get you into the Christmas spirit!
Homes on the tour include the Morris House, Miller House, Lollitop Sweetshop, Round Top Brewing, Kelley House and the Johnson House.
Round Top Christmas Parade
Christmas events will be going on all day on the square beginning with Christmas shopping at 10:00 a.m. Many of these shops will stay open late on Saturday to accommodate visitors after the parade.
At 4:30 the real festivities begin! The parade floats will all line up to be judged and prizes will be awarded on the spot. The Lighted Christmas Parade will begin at 6:45 p.m. and travel down FM 1457, to Highway 237, White Street and back down the highway to the starting point.
As always, Round Top Real Estate will have hot chocolate and delicious cookies available to guests! Come by and say hello, grab some snacks and pick out your perfect parade-watching spot! This night will be certain to drum up some Christmas spirit in even the grinchiest of spectators!
Along with the parade, there will be live music, vintage cars, photos with Santa and Mrs. Claus and tons of family fun!
Christmas in Winedale
The following weekend is Christmas in Winedale just a few miles down the road. Opening December 11 at 12:00 p.m., this is an afternoon featuring a mid-19th century Folk life reenactment.
There will be wagon rides, hay rides, mini horse carriages, crafts for children, German Santa and more! This event is FREE. Winedale Historical Complex is located at 3738 FM 2714, Round top, Texas. For more information call 979.278.3530.
The Nutcracker Ballet at Festival Hill
Another fabulously-Christmas activity is the Nutcracker at Round Top Festival Institute. This performance features the
Ovation Ballet Company and will occur on Saturday, December 11.
If you would like tickets to the Nutcracker, be sure to purchase them several months in advance….they go very quickly!
Christmas in Round Top
One of the best things about Round Top is the central location. Just over an hours drive from either Houston or Austin, it’s an easy day trip.
If you want to make the most out of your weekend, consider some of the great hotels, bed and breakfasts, or some of the other towns close by.
