AUSTIN COUNTY | You’ll find Austin County ideally situated between the burgeoning metropolises of Austin and Houston.  With lots of open space, large ranches and small acreage weekend homes dot the landscape. The tiny community of Shelby is closest to Round Top with Industry, New Ulm and Sealy further southeast. COLORADO COUNTY | A river runs through it! Named for the Colorado River, the county seat is Columbus. Columbus is known as the “Home of Live Oaks and Live Folks”, a motto that has stayed true in describing both the timeless natural beauty of town as well as the vibrant hospitality of its inhabitants. Located 70 miles west of Houston, 125 miles east of San Antonio and 87 miles south of Austin, Columbus is a relaxing small-town sanctuary just at the edge of the cities. As the county seat, the rich history of Columbus is definitively Texan. In the spring, the surrounding area is covered in bluebonnets. Small towns dot the landscape offering loads of empty space for the ranch of your dreams.A bit of information you might find of interest is that Eagle Lake in southern Colorado County is home to thousands of migratory geese who winter on the Lake.

LEE COUNTY | The county seat of Lee County is Giddings, a small Texas town 20 miles west of Round Top. Walk down the street in Giddings and without fail, folks smile and offer a friendly hello. Stop and chat with them and they’ll ask you where you’re from and what you think about the weather. They crack jokes about small-town life. They say everybody here knows everybody’s business, and if they don’t know it, they’ll make it up.
