Rafters were of 26 foot cedar logs. Original outside wall covering of cypress clapboard was replaced during later restoration, with specially milled pine. Two fireplaces, one on each end of the house, originally furnished warmth. Floors are of pine except dog run and gallery which were of cedar. Stairs are original and wholly of cedar. Original lighting was lamps and candles but lamps have now been electrified. Modern conveniences (range, refrigerator, etc.) which have been added are hidden so as not to disturb primitive look and feel. All colors were retained where painted originally and the outside, which has never been painted, has been stained with weathered wood color for preservation.
